Delete Your Data
Last updated 29 July 2026
This page explains how to permanently delete your TimeIt account and your family’s data, what survives deletion and why, and how long it takes. It also explains how to take a copy of everything first.
Deletion is permanent. Once the grace window in step 5 closes we cannot recover your schedules, your children’s profiles or your session history. Export first if there is any chance you will want them.
How to request deletion
Export your data first, if you want a copy
From the app: Settings → Data → Export. You get a CSV of your family, children, activities, sessions and invoices. Do this before requesting deletion — once deletion runs, there is nothing left to export.
You can also ask for the export by email using the same address below, and we will send it before we delete anything.
Disabled in this preview build. The backend that assembles the export is not connected yet, so this button would do nothing. Use the email route below and we will handle it manually.
Settle anything outstanding
Cancel any active subscription and settle unpaid invoices with your tutors. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription automatically, and it does not clear money owed.
Request it in the app
Settings → Data → Delete my account. You choose whether to delete your own user or the whole family account, confirm with an SMS code, and we start the clock the same day.
Disabled in this preview build. Account deletion has to run against a live backend, which is not connected yet — a button that silently did nothing here would be worse than none. Use the email route below, which works today.
Or request it by email
Email privacy@timeit.co.in from any address, and tell us the mobile number on the account and whether you want your own user removed or the whole family. This route works now.
We verify, then delete
We confirm the request really came from the account holder before we touch anything — otherwise anyone who knew your number could erase your family’s records. You then have a grace window in which to change your mind. After that it is irreversible.
How long it takes
- Same day
- We acknowledge the request and confirm which account it applies to.
- Within 7 days
- We verify the request is genuinely from the account holder. Nothing is deleted before this.
- Day 7 to day 14
- A grace window. You can cancel the request by replying to our email. After this, deletion cannot be undone.
- Within 30 days
- Live data is permanently deleted. We email or SMS you to confirm it is done.
- Within 65 days
- Encrypted backups containing the deleted data roll off and are overwritten.
What gets deleted
- Your account
- Name, mobile number, role, notification settings and login history.
- Children's profiles
- Names, dates of birth, school, grade, medical notes and any photo.
- Schedules
- All activities, recurring rules, venues, reminders and notes.
- Messages
- Threads between you and your tutors.
- Location records
- All check-in, check-out and travel route points for your family's sessions.
- Voice data
- Any stored transcripts from the voice assistant.
What we keep, and why
We would rather tell you plainly than claim we erase everything. These are the only categories that survive a deletion request:
- Invoices and payment records — 7 years
- Required under Indian tax law and needed if a payment is later disputed or a refund is claimed. Kept with the minimum identifying detail: an invoice number, amount, date and the name it was raised to.
- Attendance records tied to an invoice — 7 years
- These evidence what was billed. Deleting them would leave an invoice with nothing behind it, which is what a tax authority or a disputing party would ask to see.
- Records of your deletion request — 3 years
- So we can prove we honoured it. Limited to the request itself, its date and what was done.
- Fraud and abuse records — as long as necessary
- Only where an account was closed for fraud, abuse or a safety concern, and only what is needed to stop the same person returning.
- Backups — up to 35 days
- Backups are encrypted, not searchable per user, and are never restored into the live product. They expire on a rolling cycle.
Retained records are locked to their purpose. They are not used to contact you, not shown to anyone else, and not used to rebuild your account. When the period ends they are deleted or irreversibly anonymised.
What happens to your family
If you are one of several parents or guardians
Deleting your own user removes you from the family. Your name comes off shared records and you lose access. The family account, the children’s profiles and the schedule continue, because they belong to the other adults too.
If you are the last parent or guardian
The whole family account is deleted with you: every child profile, every activity, every session record and every message. There is no one left who could consent to keeping it, so it does not survive.
If other adults have access, transfer ownership before you leave. If you intend the whole family to be deleted, say so explicitly in your request.
Children’s access
Any child logins attached to the family stop working immediately. A child record has no independent existence; it is deleted with the family that created it.
What happens to your tutors
A tutor’s TimeIt account is their own and is not deleted when you delete yours. What changes is what they can see:
- Your children, your schedule and your contact details disappear from their app immediately.
- Your future sessions with them are cancelled and they are notified that a family has left.
- Their own record of hours worked for you, and the invoices they raised, stay in their account. Those are their business and tax records, and they are the tutor’s data as much as yours. They keep the totals, the dates and your family’s name on the invoice; they do not keep your children’s profiles, medical notes, addresses or location history.
- Messages between you are removed from your side. Copies in the tutor’s thread are deleted on the same 7-year invoice cycle where they relate to a billed session, and within 30 days otherwise.
A tutor deleting their own account works the same way in reverse: their profile and contact details leave your app, while your invoice history for the sessions they taught stays with you.
If you are not happy with the outcome
Reply to us first at privacy@timeit.co.in. If we have not resolved it, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Your other rights — access, correction, export and withdrawal of consent — are set out in the Privacy Policy.
